There couldn’t be a better day to publish the next cosplay feature than the actual birthday of today’s featured cosplayer: Lena-Lara.
Happy birthday, lovely!
The wonderful Lena, who also happens to be an appreciated friend of mine, has an outstanding cosplay career. Lena-Lara has been a Tomb Raider fan since 1998 and her first cosplay was classic Lara. Her favourite games are Tomb Raider II & III. In 2015, she represented the Rise of the Tomb Raider Lara Croft as Official Tomb Raider Cosplay Ambassador and again in 2016, as part of the 20 Year Celebration at Gamescom. Besides that, Lena was featured in Meagan Marie’s book “20 Years of Tomb Raider“ in 2016.

“Back in 1998 I found an article about Tomb Raider 3 in a computer magazine from my brother. The game and especially Lara looked interesting to me – this way I came to play Tomb Raider for the first time. Quickly I felt in love with the game, it’s puzzles, tombs, scary atmosphere and difficulty. I became obsessed with Lara, played all the TR games and cosplaying as her just seemed the next step for me of being a fan – even before I knew that sth like cosplay was actually a thing.Every time when a new Tomb Raider game came out and a new official Lara Croft model was chosen I greatly admired them – so it felt like a dream came true when I had the chance to represent Lara as Official Tomb Raider Cosplay ambassador for ROTTR in 2015 and the 20-Year Celebration in 2016.When cosplay suddenly became more popular I stopped being focused only on Lara, but also made cosplays of other characters and franchises that I like. Today, most of my free time beside my full-time job as graphic designer I spend with working on new cosplays, for example my latest one was Triss Merigold from The Witcher.
Sewing was never my strength, so first I always try to find clothes, which are quite similar to what I’m looking for. Afterwards I change and modify the necessary details. I prefer working with leather or worbla over sewing fabrics, which is why I really liked working on Reboot-Lara’s holster and quiver. Weathering your clothes and props also makes a huge difference to the final appearance of a cosplay. In my opinion it makes every costume much more authentic. Acrylic colors and make-up are my best friends to add shades and highlights, dirt, mud and blood.I am eager to see what the future has planned for Lara Croft and the Tomb Raider games. I like her reboot story and feel excited for seeing this trilogy finished, but deep down it’s classic Lara who will always have a special place in my heart. I really hope one day we will see her again, cause sometimes I miss the old times, when Lara was still known as the badass heroine, with her cool attitude, wit and special charm.”
